-Drive to Long Beach
-Look up facts about one of the world's largest ports
-Check out Queen Mary, a mid-century mail and cruise ship and possibly the worst organized self-guided tour ever. We could have seen everything of interest except the propeller and engine room without buying tickets.
$62 view of the propeller (two tickets + relevant parking charges
-Fuel stop
-Enjoy some LA traffic
-Roller blade along the beach in Santa Monica/Venice Beach
(Above): This just seems like a bad idea.
including dinner at Wolfgang Puck
and another movie: Source Code (weird, but way better than Limitless).
-Check into W Los Angeles Westwood. Emma thinks, "I am too old to stay at a W hotel. The last thing I want to encounter when checking into a hotel at 11:30 p.m. is a club scene in the lobby." John thinks, "This hotel is awesome!"
Sunday
-Check out of hotel.
-Morning drive through Beverly Hills.
-Breakfast courtesy of the Farmer's Market.
-Obligatory picture of the Hollywood sign en route.
-Church with the Sines.
-Interesting street sign.
-On the road again. Next stop, Santa Barbara
The beach
A couple of overdressed tourists
-Lunch at the Natural Cafe (eh) in old town Santa Barbara
-Many unsuccessful attempts to find gas, culminating in finally filling up an almost-empty tank.
-Back on the road.
Next up: Cayucos/San Simeon/Hearst Castle
