Apparently, we picked the wrong side of the boat, since we were blinded with the setting sun on the way out, and then facing away from the pretty sunset on the way back, but we didn't let that spoil our fun. We had a great time. Hyrum scored an invite too, since I was too lazy to thaw two bottles and try to explain the two-kid dinner and bedtime routine to our babysitter. He was great! He cried once when he got hungry toward the beginning and then once at the end when he was tired (and hungry again). What a nice boy.

Date Night
Last night, John and I went on a sunset schooner sail with some long-time city friends, most of whom will be leaving the city in the next year, and we have been in the city a few years longer than either of the long-term couples who will be moving. We are slowly becoming old timers.

Happy Half Birthday to Me!
As birthdays go, it's a little anticlimatic since we don't really celebrate half birthdays around these parts. But every year, on this day, I always think about how it's my half birthday and how we SHOULD celebrate half birthdays because then I would be celebrating. Maybe next year.
In the meantime, I'll be here today, just chillin' with these two. And perhaps making a trip to Trader Joe's. Also, unfortunately, with these two. C'est la vie, and I love it in the aggregate, even though grocery store trips with a 3 month old, a 2 year old, and no car aren't my idea of a rocking good time.

Evelyn drawing herself with chalk, or trying to at least
The other day, Evelyn babysat while I went down to pick up the laundry. Notice that Baby Janie is riding in Hyrum's lap, and Hyrum is wearing the newborn hat they gave us in the hospital. Stylin'!
The other day, John was watching the kids, and I looked out the window to find this . . .
and this . . .
and this.
Hyrum was jealous, so when we got back inside, John gave him a turn, too.
Apparently, she is more famous than I thought.
Here, we have an excellent example of why I usually don't say, "Smile!" before clicking the shutter. At least she comes by it honestly.
Evelyn has reached that magical age where every time we go to the playground, I look up 5 minutes in to see her running around holding hands with a new best friend. It's kind of cute.
Poor Hyrum just has to sit by himself.
As a general rule, he doesn't seem to mind much.
There are no words.
I know mothers who love those nightgowns for little babies. I always find the baby either with the gown up around his/her stomach or like this. They seem simple enough, but there must be a secret I don't know.

My new phone
Is making me happy today.
Mostly because every time I wake up the screen, I see this:
How could that not make me happy?

The last box
It had mocked me long enough, that last box. I unpacked it yesterday morning. Without all the boxes and bathroom stuff, my room looks enormous!
We hung pictures Saturday.
The renovations have been done for about two weeks.
I think this may mean we are officially moved in!
The list of awesome things about the new place includes the fact that our maintenance, although higher than we would like, includes all our utilities. For a skinflint like me, this means that I can keep our apartment much cooler than I ever have before. Sometimes I have to put socks on because I am too cold!
And if we want to be warm, we have plenty of other options these days. Evelyn gets to wear her swimsuit and play in the cold water. Hyrum gets to go around half naked. Me, I just suffer through it while refusing to spend any time styling my hair until the weather improves, like so.

This is neither here nor there, but isn't my baby just delicious!
