Our third day in Madrid, we decided to take a day trip to Toledo. After a few early false starts trying to get a last-minute rental car, and some related Debbie Downer comments on my part, I was so glad John pushed us to still go. The entire town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and in my opinion, deservedly so.'
-Cathedral
-Lunch: Pizza. Eh.
-Drop by Santo Tome to see El Greco's The Burial of the Count of Orgaz
-Interestingly, much of the armor and many of the swords used in Hollywood come from Toledo. Sadly, John's wife would not let him buy one.
-Santa Cruz Museum: Entrance was free, and they had 15 El Grecos
-Sample the local mazapan (marzipan). Head home.
-Scenic drive around the city on our way out. It was gorgeous, and we both thought we "should" stop to take pictures. But we both sort of felt like stopping, parking, and getting out to take pictures would ruin the moment. So, we didn't.

Apparently, Toledo's cardinals can choose their burial sites within the cathedral. The church hangs their hats over their tombs and leaves them there until the hats decay to nothing. This takes quite a while. A few of the ones here were at least couple hundred years old.
